Here's the link: http://www.pwc.com/pg/en/about-us/investment-exchange-controls.jhtml

It seems that a PNG resident may remit funds overseas to a value of K50,000 annually, with a tax clearance certificate issued by the Internal Revenue Services. At today's rate, that's about US$24,000, quite a large amount.

Given PNG's close geographic proximity to Australia, it may be possible to open a non-resident investment brokerage account in Australia via a licensed and registered firm with a small deposit amount (e.g. < PGK10,000) to start with, and invest in international stocks that way?

I don't have expertise regarding restrictions on offshore accounts held by PNG residents, so it may be worthwhile to check in with a local banker (for free advice).

Good luck!Rudi Besterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04053657633129050761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7920035598142089367.post-42439434312238437222012-12-06T18:59:59.032-05:002012-12-06T18:59:59.032-05:00Rudi,

Financial markets in PNG is at infant stage where we have 3 - 4 reconginized fund managers who charge higher fees and few individuals agents that may not be recogninized.

Individuals and SMEs put money in the banks where they only recieve upto less than 1% interest per year. I believe opportunities exist this case so would provide best tips on how these people consider investing their money in stock rather than keeping places where it does not give good returns.

Regars
Da Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
